couldn't see this already done -

Points to be awarded for cup games

Posted by Sean Whetstone on July 29, 2016 in News, Whispers

West Ham will award priority points to season ticket holders attending European and domestic home cup games starting this season. In line with many other clubs, West Ham will award one priority point for each home cup match attended at the former Olympic Stadium including next Thursday when West Ham play the second leg against Domzale in the Europa League.

The move is reward season ticket holders who attend cup games so if West Ham make a FA Cup final it would be a fairer way to allocate the 24,000 allocation for Wembley from the 52,000 season ticket holders. Up to now you could only earn priority points for each away game you attended for the current and past season.

Our ticket office source told us this morning:

“We are beginning to reward season ticket holders with a priority point for attending home cup games as well. This goes further to rewarding loyalty and in the event we reach a cup Final and receive the standard allocation of only 24,000 tickets it would naturally result in thousands of fans with zero points being treated equally in a ballot but someone who has been to all cup home games should be rewarded more than someone who hasn’t been to any cup games and the simple way of recognising this is by awarding a point for this extra level of support and loyalty.”

Tickets for Chelsea away go on sale online at 9am today for those with 8 points or more. The 3,000 allocation is expected to sell out at the priority points application stage with all away tickets capped at £30 this season.

You can find our guide to buying away tickets online under the new system HERE

Work itself out? It might as well do as the TO seemingly have LITTLE ability to work anything out.

As an aside, people have now managed to;

1) Put a deposit down for £99 tickets using fake details
2) BUY £99 tickets against those fake details
3) Use these tickets with those fake details

without a soul asking anyone for ID to prove a child even exists for those tickets.

You insisted this would be happening, any update, or will this be filed in the family stand bin where you'll just pretend that yet again that this is all deliberate and you've not been given a bum steer by your pals in the TO again?

We're missing an ST from our collection too, hopefully they haven't cocked that up too.

I didn't get points for either Europa League game but I have got one for Chelsea so it doesn't look like this is happening.

Re: Priority points for home Cup Games
I got an e-mail from someone called Sean in the ticket office on Friday who said that points are only given for away matches.

I thought it was a decent idea to get bigger crowds for shit matches, maybe do 1/2 a point for Europa/League cup matches and 1 for any away day.

It's going to be a scrum got semi and final tickets if we get there what with all of these newbies and Man U/Arsenal fans that have bought tickets for this season

So is the Juventus game not classed as a cup game for Loyalty Point purposes then?

OTB

No one is particularly "worried". It's a simple question though. As you don't know, given your TO connections, I can only presume that they haven't made up their minds yet?

I got a point for my Domzale purchase and then was taken away and then re-added again. I don't really care about the point but I would like a simple answer to a simple questions from the TO.

I don't know what the score is here, but I wouldn't worry about having or not having the point just yet - as with everything else, it'll settle down and work itself out. Give it time.

They also told me that any points added for home cup games would be taken back soon !!

This makes sense. Away fans don't lose out, the club boosts home attendance for unattractive cup games.

Problem is they have already given lots of people one point for the domzale game

Re: Priority points for home Cup Games
So has there been any formal response/statement from the club then? Are priority points being added for home cup games or not?

I know that some people got them and some didn't against the Slovenians - but they must have an official policy now?

the away points do take a day or two in fairness, they just have no consistency and do not know what they are doing

Re: Priority points for home Cup Games
I didn't get one originally for next Thursday's match then swapped to another seat and got one, which is strange.

What's more concerning is that I just got a Chelsea away ticket but no point given.

Re: Priority points for home Cup Games
I had one taken away for some reason and then added back 40 minutes later so still haven't got one. Maybe something to do with my seat not being available so had to choose another. Suppose I could phone to find out why and wait a couple of hours before being cut off.
